Doja Cat’s ‘Scarlet’: That Grape Juice’s Top 5 Tracks

Published: Tuesday 26th Sep 2023 by Ryan

Doja Cat has unleashed ‘Scarlet’ – her fourth album.

Led by the chart-topping ‘Paint The Town Red’ the album sees Doja flexing her nine lives with some of most personal tracks.

That Grape Juice has been spinning the LP since its release. Join us below to find out which five tracks are essential on ‘Scarlet.’

5. Attention

The first promotional single for ‘Scarlet’ does exactly what its name says and grabs the attention of the listener from the first bars.

4. 97

One of the album’s forays into jazz rap, ’97’ features a Snoop Dog-like hook and finds Doja at home with the sound.

3. Paint The Town Red

Sampling Dionne Warwick’s ‘Walk On By’ was a smart move for Doja Cat, because the finger snap beat fits right in with her flow as she flexes her fame and the obstacles it took to get there.

2. Wet Vagina

Speaking of Doja Cat flexing her fame and status, there is no other track on ‘Scarlet’ that is as braggadocios as ‘Wet Vagina’ Make not mistake, while there is plenty of bragging, Doja infuses plenty of humor  and the combination sets her apart from her contemporaries.

1. Agora Hills

The most recent single from ‘Scarlet’ is the album’s most accessible and best track. From its pop accessibility and singing chorus, Doja perfectly straddles the worlds of pop and rap to a masterful result.

It’s good that you’ve done this. Lately you’ve been only doing it for certain artists.

    My current top 5

    Paint the town red
    Agora hills
    Ftg
    Gun
    Go off

FYI I think all the rap girls brag in their own way. If you’re a true artist then you can’t write about things you genuinely haven’t been through. It’s stupid and inauthentic. Some rappers choose to stay in the present and some in the past. So when you write articles forget the comparisons and focus on there music only; without the subliminals.

I listened to Scarlet for the first time while working out & the album has some gems and mids. The gems far outweigh the mids though and I say mids because some of the lyrics are just silly. But the production and great and conceptually it’s fire. Doja is here to stay frfr.
